Champagne was drunk from the more valuable glasses (that’s the hexagonal stem and the little deer figures on the bowl), balloon lanterns were set aloft, funny spectacles were donned, and nearly naked men ran through in two directions.

Love Kings Heath

Love Kings Heath

Lost Ferret.
“Planning permission was recently granted for the re-location of the toilets, outside All Saints Church, to move to the opposite corner of Vicarage Road. The relocation of the toilets will allow work to commencing on the new community square outside All Saints Church. The plan is to relocate the toilets in late November early December.

The council owned highway land has been through a stopping up order procedure and will shortly pass to the church allowing the Community Spaces grant to be drawn down and work on the community square to begin. commence.
It is envisaged that a contractor for doing the works will be appointed in mid December, with them starting on site in mid January, with a completion and formal opening of the square planned for July 2011.”

Something did considerable damage to one end of the Henbury Garden wall this past Sunday.

This is a follow on to the previous post about B-Mail’s...

This is a follow on to the previous post about B-Mail’s photo for ‘ultralocal’ coverage of King’s Heath. Much as I like the fact that it’s of Highbury entrance, it’s just not representative of da Heath, so I went out and did my own interpretation on that theme.

Top photo, combo of congestion at York Road and the awesome spires atop the adjacent buildings.

Middle photo, congestion (natch) and that long view northward along the only stretch that’s got (nice) buildings fronting both sides o’ the road.

Bottom photo, no congestion, and a more open aspect.

If you have an idea about a representative KH street scene, let’s see it.

Kings Heath & Stirchley from the Birmingham Mail

Kings Heath & Stirchley from the Birmingham Mail:
Separate local page on the Mail site, not the most representative photo tbh…
