Exasperated managers at National Express West Midlands have said they will withdraw the 35 service through Kings Heath if deep potholes and cracks in Allens Croft Road are not filled in.

This is a follow on to the previous post about B-Mail’s photo for ‘ultralocal’ coverage of King’s Heath. Much as I like the fact that it’s of Highbury entrance, it’s just not representative of da Heath, so I went out and did my own interpretation on that theme.

Top photo, combo of congestion at York Road and the awesome spires atop the adjacent buildings.

Middle photo, congestion (natch) and that long view northward along the only stretch that’s got (nice) buildings fronting both sides o’ the road.

Bottom photo, no congestion, and a more open aspect.

If you have an idea about a representative KH street scene, let’s see it.

Take a photo every day in 2010
I’m doing some heavy duty pruning of over hanging bushes and needed my secateurs sharpened. When I collected them I was shocked at the price of only £2.50, its not the sort of job you do regular so I really had no idea what I would pay but would of expected to pay at least double that. So I decided the shop keeper deserved some publicity and as I’m taking the photo his mate over the road was shout what about me. His shop was a mini Mothercare so I shant be needing his services. Kings Heath DIY is on Alcester Lanes End on the crossroads with Taylor Road

You’ll make your way up Kings Heath High Street, stopping in every one of the 10 Charity Shops – purchasing an item of clothing in each and then donning it for the rest of the crawl. Then we go to the pub. Expect to be dressed completely differently by the end of the crawl.

Short haired Ginger and White neutered male cat 5 years old. Average sized head, large- bulbous body. Mostly Ginger with white chest and paws and lower face. Responds to Leo, and sometimes Fatboy. Last seen on Monday night - 19th July - towards the back of Heathfield Road. Leo was spooked by a strange dog, but it is highly unusual for him not to have returned. We haven’t really thought about rewards but we are desperate to have him home and will discuss this if you have any information or sightings of him. The evening kicks off with High Score (dir: Jeremy Mack, 2006), a portrait of one man’s crusade to achieve the all-time high score on the arcade version of classic Atari game Missile Command - a feat which involves two days of solid gaming on one quarter, with no pause button.
